Journeys are what shape us. Every path we have taken is the right path because it has brought us exactly to where we are. Whether we’re skipping uphill or falling downhill, the path that life sweeps us in is exactly what was intended for us. For some of us, the path is hard to choose. We consider our options carefully, weighing all the possibilities. Whereas for others, we just whisk ourselves to whatever path feels right to us at that very moment.
Right now, my journey has taken me to Dallas, Texas. At least, for a few days. :)
About 9 years ago, I entered college for graphic design. About 7 years ago, I took my first photography class because it was a graphic design requirement, and fell in love. About 5 years ago, I second shot my first wedding. About 4 years ago, I graduated college and moved to San Diego to photograph weddings. About 3 months ago, I attended a workshop that changed my life & my photography. About a month ago, I entered in my first photography contest and won. And because of that, today I’m leaving for Dallas for a workshop that will, no doubt, change my life again.
& I look forward to the road ahead ;)
Thank you to everyone who has given me support on this journey… without you, my journey wouldn’t be as full.

I will be out of town from Wednesday, January 30th till Friday February 1st. I will be checking emails, so if you need to reach me immediately, please email me, otherwise I’ll get back to you all when I return! ;)
P.S. Don’t fear! Photo a day still goes on as I am away ;)
P.P.S. I jumped on the bandwagon and added a Twitter there on the bottom of the page ;) So you can keep up with me, of course!

So this post is long, long, long overdue!! Meghan, Scott and I headed out to Windansea beach a long, long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away… ;) ) and did their engagement shoot! I have to tell you, I don’t know how the heck all my couples end up being ridiculously good-looking, but they do! I honestly and truly can’t wait for the wedding you two, I am so thrilled! ;)

Courtney and I headed out and did a little mini shoot recently - I wanted to get some photos of her and also introduce you all to her because she’s become an integral part to my recent sanity! ;) Courtney, who has impeccable taste in music, has been helping around the office with everything and I couldn’t be more grateful. Since she’s been taking care of so much for me, I’ve been so much more focused on what I love the most - the photography! I couldn’t be more thankful, and don’t know what I’d do without her! ;)

She’s going to kill me for posting this one, but she describes this face as the “I don’t know what you’re doing, so I’ll just bite my lip”

Taken along the Pacific Coast Highway near Big Sur. This is such a beautiful drive - we just need to do it again when it’s not raining! November 2006.

If you haven’t already noticed, I changed the look of my main site! I’m still in the process of updating the galleries, so I’ll let you know when those are done too ;)

Some people just have this fun yet sweet energy about them - Larry & Cindy are these people! Belmont Park is where we did our session, and if I remember correctly, where they had their first date. ;) I truly enjoyed hanging out with these two during this shoot & can’t wait for the wedding :)
& yes, we went on the rollercoaster. All of us! ;)

Disclaimer - this is not a real pointe shoe! When I first uploaded this image online, I got a lot of criticism because it wasn’t a real pointe shoe, so because of this, it isn’t real art. To me, art has so many different interpretations, and something like this shouldn’t discredit the image. I love the look of on pointe, but I didn’t have any pointe shoes, so I improvised. :)
And to note, this is one of my favorite images I’ve ever taken. Simply, I think, because of what it means to me (obviously since my business name is related! ;))
Taken January 2004.
This was our kitty Mooch - the very day we got him. He was so cute and tiny that he fit in Zach’s hands! I took this photo and submitted it to kittenwar.com as a fun thing, and over a year later, it got published!!
The Kitten War book (go check it out at your local bookstore!)
Then.
Moochie now. Probably not the sweetest looking photo - with his eyes in little slits. but he’s a sweetheart. :)
Look! You can see my name in the credits :)

On top of that, my photos are on Amy Seeley’s website - go check it out! :)

& lastly, a very happy birthday to my very good friend, Christina, who just gave birth to her first child earlier this week! <3 I can’t wait to meet little Sophia! :)

Okay, this one comes with a funny story. Usually when heading out to beachy type locations, I wear flip flops - my Rainbows, to be exact! That, and I just wear flip flops almost everywhere. So I wore my flip flops to this shoot, thinking that it would be fine, but it was NOT. The Salton Sea beach isn’t made up of sand like normal beaches, but of barnacle shells and fish bones.
NO JOKE.
I was fine until I stepped in an area where my feet literally started sinking like quicksand into the barnacle shells, cracking and breaking on my exposed feet. And I was stuck. It was quite comical, really, both me and Jonilyn (who is picture in the yellow shirt in my last post - sharing the same Shootsac I have!) were very much stuck, both in flip flops, and we had to gingerly make our way back to solid ground.
Note: when going to the Salton Sea, wear shoes. :p ;)
A few fun shots of the setups and behind the scenes! :)
Jonilyn holding up the veil! :D
