This was taken 5 years ago when I still lived in Nor Cal at the Sacramento River, and we had crazy storms often. Yesterday’s rain reminded me how much I loved rain and stormy days,  and this is one of my favorite storm/cloud images to date.

re: argyle socks + mary janes + polaroids.
= love.

re: pushing daisies.
Words cannot express how much I love this show. The styling, the adorableness of it all! I wish I had Chuck’s wardrobe, especially this outfit! (which makes me ache for the holidays)

re: coats.
My name is Susan, and I am addicted to coats. I have thirteen fourteen coats. This is my most recent beauty.

SO. TRUE.

re: 40 days and 40 nights: taking time out for self discovery.
This is an amazing journaling/reading/activity book that moves you along for 40 days to look into yourself, do things and ask yourself questions that you would probably not ask yourself on a daily basis. I’m on day 30 now, and it has been an amazing month. There are some questions and prompts that hit you or resonate with you more, but the whole wonderfulness of it is that you learn to listen to yourself - your intuition more. I recommend anyone and everyone to try it. It really does change your life.

re: the cab ride i’ll never forget.
Please, do yourself a favor and read this story. It’s beautiful.

Another couple which I must commend for their patience on this blog post! You may remember Lorelle & Jason from their fun engagement session at UCR, and their wedding was no exception! We even did photos at Legoland, which was a first all around! The ceremony was held at the beautiful Mission San Luis Rey, with a beautiful outdoor reception at The Crossings at Carlsbad.

Lorelle & Jason, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day - you guys are AWESOME and I wish you so many blessing for your future together :)

P.S. Stay tuned for their details post!

Who’s this?! ;)

The structures behind them are the Griffith Observatory (where Jason proposed!) and the Mission San Luis Rey, where they were just married! It was a total conincidence that they were right next to each other :)

On the Lego “teacups”

Darth was no match for them!

Boudoir and Photo A Day.  |  comment(s)

Alina is hot stuff, and I had a blast shooting her boudoir session in her home! Just another way to show you that all I needed is light and YOU! It’s not about props or anything like that, but your hot self! I just have to post a little excerpt from the email she sent me right after the shoot!

Hi Susan!
I just wanted to write and thank you for the wonderful, fun, exciting, great, fun, entertaining, fun boudoir shoot last week!  Did I mention that I thought it was fun?  I had such a great time, I’ve pretty much told all my girlfriends that EVERY woman should do it, and that’s a lot of girlfriends since i just went to a bridal shower/bachelorette weekend!

Alina, you are beautiful inside and out, and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to make you feel GOOD as every woman should! ;)

I’m still booking boudoir sessions from January-March of next year… don’t hesitate to email me for more info!

So yesterday I did a little experiment and covered all the clocks in the house so I wouldn’t be constantly aware of what time it was. Have you ever tried something like this before? It’s quite interesting, the time crawls by (mostly because I was also not allowing myself to surf the internet), and I assume it’s later than it actually is. It kind of throws you for a loop, and I realize how much I actually glance at the clock throughout the day. It definitely forces you to slow down too, because you’re not held captive to the clock. I think everyone should give it a shot, just to see how it affects us - and how our habits can actually control us in many ways. Why not try it - if not time, then why not any other habit (like surfing the net, wearing a certain piece of clothing, doing something at a certain time) and see how that changes things for you? I think forcing ourselves out of these habits for a day really makes us more aware of them, and whether or not we want them in our lives. (I actually quite like not knowing exactly what time it is :))

so long sweet summer
i stumbled upon you and gratefully basked in your rays
so long sweet slumber
i fell into you, now you’re gracefully falling away

hey thanks, thanks for that summer
it’s cold where you’re going
i hope that your hearts always warm

Summer doesn’t really leave us here, but it’s a fitting image for the change of seasons.
