Happy Chinese New Year! The title of this post is how you would greet one another for the new year in Cantonese (it literally means “Best wishes and Congratulations. Have a prosperous and good year.”)
Since moving out of my parent’s house, I no longer get to see all the traditions and rituals that go along with Chinese New Year anymore. My mom was very rigid in her beliefs with the new year, I remember getting up at the crack of dawn to eat “breakfast” (it would really be dinner at the crack of dawn) and burn incense and rituals like that. I never learned any of them, so I honestly don’t know what much of it meant, but that’s what I knew growing up.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot, and thinking a lot about how *much* I want to go to China & Hong Kong again and photograph *everything.* When I went my first time, it was before I was into photography like I am now, and there were so many beautiful sights that I saw that I want to recapture. Not to mention the history of it all with my family – going back to where my parents grew up and capturing that in images as well. I want to document China & Hong Kong as I saw it. This is one of the biggest dreams I have right now. :) Someday. ;)

In other fabulous news, Verlee & Josh’s trash the dress shoot has been featured on Shutterfly’s new section – Shutterfly Weddings! :)
Here’s their feature story! :) I was notified a few months ago about the possibility of being featured on the site – Tracy from their staff stumbled upon my blog & wanted to do a story about our Trash the Dress shoot. They interviewed Verlee & Josh (and apparently other brides as well), and we waited anxiously to see if we made the cut – and we did! It went live yesterday and it’s just so exciting to see all this in print! ;)
