Journeys are what shape us. Every path we have taken is the right path because it has brought us exactly to where we are. Whether we’re skipping uphill or falling downhill, the path that life sweeps us in is exactly what was intended for us. For some of us, the path is hard to choose. We consider our options carefully, weighing all the possibilities. Whereas for others, we just whisk ourselves to whatever path feels right to us at that very moment.
Right now, my journey has taken me to Dallas, Texas. At least, for a few days. :)
About 9 years ago, I entered college for graphic design. About 7 years ago, I took my first photography class because it was a graphic design requirement, and fell in love. About 5 years ago, I second shot my first wedding. About 4 years ago, I graduated college and moved to San Diego to photograph weddings. About 3 months ago, I attended a workshop that changed my life & my photography. About a month ago, I entered in my first photography contest and won. And because of that, today I’m leaving for Dallas for a workshop that will, no doubt, change my life again.
& I look forward to the road ahead ;)
Thank you to everyone who has given me support on this journey… without you, my journey wouldn’t be as full.

I will be out of town from Wednesday, January 30th till Friday February 1st. I will be checking emails, so if you need to reach me immediately, please email me, otherwise I’ll get back to you all when I return! ;)
P.S. Don’t fear! Photo a day still goes on as I am away ;)
P.P.S. I jumped on the bandwagon and added a Twitter there on the bottom of the page ;) So you can keep up with me, of course!

What you said about journey’s is so true. Although we could have made different choices in the past that would have enriched our lives, the choices we did make have shaped us to who we are today. You shot my friend, Verlee’s wedding and since then I’ve been checking your blog awaiting “a picture a day” to be inspired and to hopefully become as good or a least half as good a photographer as you. Thank you for inspiring me.
Susan – Say hi to Jesh for me! I would love to be going again! Lauren Clark is going too – she is teaching a workshop I am going to next month, so be sure to meet her – her work is fabulous.
I love your inspiring thoughts and photo(s)-a-day! Hope you have an amazing time in Dallas!
Hi Susan!
I am so jealous… I want to do a workshop with Jesh.. Can you please tell Jesh for me that he really should come out to Australia for a workshop, I have at least 5 other friends that would sign on in a instant! I am coming over to the USA for WPPI in 2009 – cant make it this year as I accidentally booked a wedding for the same time….. bugger… only 13 more months to wait! I am going to be coming over for about a month and hoping to fit as many workshops in as possible during this time, and also I will come to meet you! =) Do you think you will be going to WPPI next year? I hope so =) Well I hope you have a absolutely fantastic time at the workshop, and what you said about the journey is very true. Who would have thought we would be both running our own sucessful businesses a few years ago! …… xox samm
