Before I start my random thoughts post, I wanted to ask an important question.
Who are you?
I know there are many people who follow my blog that never comment, and there are you out there who comment all the time (xoxox), and then there are the inbetweens. I am curious about who you are, why you’ve come here, how you’ve found me, and what drives you/inspires you/moves you in life. <3
So please tell me :)

re: so you think you can dance.
Weekly recap? I’m curious if they’re going to be pushing a hip hop dancer to win this year. They seem to be emphasizing it.. or I could just be delusional. :P
re: me dancing.
In the living room, to my iPod full blast. ;)
re: life.
There are things in life that just fall in place, fall together. For a while, I was really trying to control certain things in my life, control certain things about my mindset during shoots, etc. And I would always, always get frustrated when things didn’t go exactly how I wanted it to. Where did all this control come from? I’m naturally not like this. So I gave it up. And it set me free. :) Stop trying to control life, and it may just surprise you.
re: inspiration.

01 :: the exchange.
A cute little short film on Jcrew.com – I love the tones of the film. :)
02 :: popmats placemats.
Um, LOVE IT!
03 :: retro swimwear.
I’m loving the new retro trend in swimwear. Do I need another reason to buy a new bathing suit?! :)
04 :: hera rose bib dress.
Love it, now if only I could afford it….

Hi! I’m Lauri and I come here almost everyday because your images and words are a constant source of inspiration for me. I came across your blog when you won Jesh’s contest a few months ago, and have been hooked ever since. :-) Love it! :-)
I am a photographer in Independence Oregon, and I visit your blog for inspiration. I’d say I have about 20 different photographers that I love to follow. It’s great getting to know eachother prfessionally and personally through a blog. I live for my family w/ two babies, but photoghraphy is an obsession which helps me get out of bed in the morning and get the day started! Terrible I know, but it keeps me balanced. Thanks for askin’! :)
i’m winnie and you were our wedding photographer extraordinaire last year :) i just love your work!
I am related to C & E. I’m glad C picked you as their photographer! Awesome work!
Hi Susan. Well, I’m the confused girl who keeps asking you about camera buying tips ;) lol I am a 26 yr old who loves God, family, dreams, traveling, and true friends :) They are the ones who inspire me and move me. I’m a dreamer; I’m motivated and determined. Music moves me as well, since I love to sing, play (drums, guitar, piano) and I love to help people. I want to help people as a career, somehow. I found your blog because I found your myspace first. Found your myspace because I stumbled by through another photographer. Your photographs are so beautiful and inspiring, they put a smile on my face, so that’s why I keep visiting:)Take care. http://www.myspace.com/dismantleandrepair
Hi Susan. Great idea for a post – the “introduce yourself” post. I’m Eric, a photographer from CT and love your blog. I was introduced to your work when one of my images was selected in Jesh de Rox’s contest and was then trounced by your super-cool couple/umbrella shot. (rightfully so!) Keep up the supa-fab, awe-inspiring work!
Hi Susan!
I am an aspiring portrait/wedding photographer from the East Coast – I found your blog through another blog link (although I can’t remember which one). I visit your blog every day to get some inspiration and see your most recent work. I think your images are fantastic and I hope to be creating my own someday! I’m also getting married in two weeks (eek!) so the wedding industry is very close to my own heart currently :) Thanks for the opportunity to say hello!
Hi, my name is Courtney and I found your website on Shutterfly. I visit your site every day. Your images are so moving. I inspire to someday be half as talanted as you. It’s because of this website that I’ve gotten interested in photography. Thank you for allowing me to say hello, for the daily inspiration and for showing me what I really want in life.
LAURI :: Wonderful to meet you! Thank you for being here! :)
MELANIE :: Thank you for sharing! Keep that passion alive :)
WINNIE :: Hi love!! I’m so glad that you’re still here, keep in touch! :D
YM :: Thank you! I can’t wait until their wedding :)
IRIS :: Thank you so much for your presence! :) Keep following what you love, and keep that chin up :)
ERIC :: Aww, thank you dear! Pleased to meet you & thanks for coming & introducing yourself!
JANE :: Thank you so much for the intro and for being here! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Hope it’s magical :)
COURTNEY :: Thank YOU for being here too, my friend! Keep looking everywhere for inspiration :)
I’m a lurker (I must have commented at least twice in the last year) ;)
Yeah, I’m Mitch and I’m from Cape Town, South Africa. Our paths crossed on Digital Wedding Forum. Love your work and I try to visit when I can…Keep the passion! ;)
Hi! I’ve been a lurker for a while. I am a military wife and mommy in San Diego and stumbled across your blog. It’s so inspiring. Photography is my passion and I’m currently practicing and building up a portfolio to hopefully start a business in the future. I just absolutely love your work!
I’ve been lurking ever since my friends picked you as their photographer in 2006. I’ve seen how much you’ve grown in your work and it amazes me everytime you post something new. You capture moments that I would have never thought a camera would be able to get. I am in love with your work, which is why I’ve already asked you to be a part of my wedding next August ;) Seeing all these images makes me more and more excited that I get to work with you :) 2009 can’t come soon enough.
My name is sarah, I am a 19 year old. I come here because I like your wide range of style.. you’re pretty much open with anything, you don’t stick much to one style, which is always neat and interesting! My sister told me to check out your site, since you photographed your pictures, so ive been checking this blog ever since =]. My drive..God is my drive, by choice. I live to represent Christ, I live to help others, I live to be useful. Inspiration, maybe my mom and sisters. They keep it real, they set an example of what life is like when you allow God to use and guide you. God is basically my mover =] He gives me a hope, a purpose. Oh by the way, I was the one who asked you how to take the “airplane perspective” picture of las vegas, if you remember. I take pictures when I can, I don’t see much of the creativity as my work, but more like being capable of capturing God’s creative creations on still images =]. All colors and beauty come from Him, I just capture what is already there =]
Hey Susan! Danielle and Jared here. I check your site here and there along with some other photographers and videographers. Mostly I like to see what everyone is up to and also to see how I can learn from others. I really enjoy your “random thoughts” and photo a day. I wish I had the time to post a “video a day” haha. Anyway, I just wanted to say that we had fun working with you and Emily at Karina and Todd’s wedding. Hopefully we can work together again soon! Check out their dance sequence on our blog if you get a chance! blog.sidebysidevideo.com
see you around!!
Hi Susan! I found you through Bridal Insider where you are one of THE most popular wedding photographers!! I looked at your blog and fell in love with your work and come to see every day. I especially love that you include photos that reflect some of your personal hobbies…cooking, food and dance! We met and booked you for our Sept. wedding without meeting anyone else. Ian and I are also obsessed with Joshua Radin and in case you didn’t already know, he’s coming to the Bellyup in Solana Beach on Aug.24…hopefully we’ll see you there! ;) AND, I’m super excited for the b-pic session next weekend…I need to go shopping though, today. HA!

Hi Susan,
My name is Sarah (or Sadie, as most call me); I’m 25 and live near Greensboro, NC. Can’t quite remember how I stumbled across your blog months ago, but look forward to checking daily ever since. I love your work, your style, and your cheerful attitude. Photography has been a huge hobby of mine since high school, and now my husband and I are in the beginning stages of starting our own business. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated! We’ve been building up our lens collection and just purchased the 5D!!! (should arrive tomorrow — can’t wait!!) You’re a great inspiration! Keep up the amazing work!
