Hello dear readers! Again, blogging has alluded me, but I have not forgotten. :) I hope you are all well & enjoying this ‘stormy’ weather in San Diego because I am! (However short it may last!) I’m loving how the thick humid air is making the streetlights twinkle like stars. . . .* . . *.* :)

re: a trip to come.
So, I am planning an amazing road trip up the coast (Highway 1) from San Francisco to Portland/Seattle and want to know – where are your favorite places to go & see? Where should I stop? What good eats are there? Tell me!

(To clarify, I am driving up from San Diego, however I’m not going along the coast for that stretch of the trip because I’ve already done it before)

re: music.
I can’t stop listening to this song, it feels exactly as I feel right now.

re: polaroids.
I recently bought 27 packs of polaroid film. I’m crazy, I know. But I’m excited to use them more :)

re: speaking of polaroids.
I so want this ring. (updated link)

re: (500) days of summer.
I am in love with the cinematography, the adorable touches, Zooey Deschanel, Joseph Gordon Levitt, the styling, and soundtrack of this movie. It’s quite refreshing.
And I love this video too. Gah! Gotta love that Zooey & JGL! :)

re: inspiration.
This image & recreation.
This one is clever and makes me smile.
You must watch this video, and in HD in full screen too. So soothing. Love the song, and their entire album as well.

I am absolutely in love with this trailer too, and can’t wait to see the movie. (Can he just read me all poems from now on? I would love that. plzkthx ;)

re: a quote to leave you by.
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. – Howard Thurman

So. What makes you come alive? :)

why, hello there!

yay..road trip! it sounds like it’s gonna be so much fun!! :)

..one of our favorite food ‘tours’ we did in seattle was of pike’s place market. it’s called ‘savor seattle tours’ — http://www.savorseattletours.com/
you take a tour of the entire market! and you stop and eat at like 10 different places — just sampling items. it was a really cool experience!

I’ll save my recommendations for Seattle for when you arrive. :) As for SF, I’ve been recommending a place that I haven’t even tried yet – but all I hear are GREAT things about it: Tartine Bakery. I’m hoping to make it there the next time I go to SF!!

BTW, I was thinking about your question: What makes you come alive? When I’m outside – reading, gardening, writing – is when I come alive, and it’s usually when I’m alone. And I defined “alive” as feeling at peace, content, and joyful. During those times, I usually get inspiration on how to “live” even better, whether it’s something I could do or something about myself that I could work on.

dont know if youre starting from socal or norcal, but just in case youre driving up from socal, ive included some other cities that are worth a mention if youre taking the 1/101 up the coast.

      Pismo beach:
      - splash cafe – its an epic battle of the best clam chowders between this place and the fish hopper (see below)

      Monterey:
      - the fish hopper – one of the best clam chowders – right around the corner from the monterey aquarium
      - note: both of these are better than SF fisherman’s wharf chowder

      SJ:
      - calvin’s philly cheese steaks

      SF:
      - seniore’s pizza on 19th & taraval: get the chicken pesto or chicken garlic pizza
      - burma superstar – burmese food, everythings pretty good, salads are amazing
      - barney’s for burgers
      - osha thai – if you need a late night spot – thai food – duck curry is really good
      - go see: haight/ashbury st, the deyoung museum, fisherman’s wharf/pier 39, union square, etc. im sure youve been to sf before

      portland:
      - pix patisserie – a dessert place – get their french macarons and home made, freshly-churned ice cream – the best!
      - le happy – crepes
      - 50 plates – don’t order the shrimp cocktail, sliders were good, the other stuff was good too – tapas style
      - go see nike headquarters, multnomah falls, portland’s a really gorgeous city

      seattle:
      - they have seattle hot dogs (don’t know where though) – it has cream cheese
      - pike street fish fry – fish n chips
      - go see the fremont troll and the fish market

      im hungry now.
